Care Certificate

The Care Certificate was introduced on 1st April 2015 and replaces the Common Induction Standards and National Minimum Training Standards. It was developed jointly by Skills for Care, Health Education England and Skills for Health. 

The Care Certificate is an agreed set of standards that define the knowledge, skills and behaviours expected of specific job roles in the health and social care sectors. It's made up of the 15 minimum standards that should be covered if you are 'new to care' and should form part of a robust induction programme. It is recommended that a new full time employee should complete the Care Certificate within 12 weeks of starting their new role.

Our interactive and Skills for Care endorsed eLearning package will guide candidates through each of these 15 standards, with formative assessments to support and reinforce all areas of learning. 

Candidates are assigned a unique learner profile, via the LMS, from which course materials can be accessed and their progression remotely monitored by course personnel. An assessment workbook is included for each standards that can be used to assess and validate candidate knowledge. Providers can choose whether this is optional/ mandatory and online/ offline in format, allowing for the customisation of provision to specific training needs. 

As the materials can be accessed via any device with an internet connection (including mobile data), candidates can coordinate learning around their own schedule with the assurance that all progress is saved to their profile. 

Following the completion of each standard, candidates are awarded a module certificate that can be printed and added to their training portfolio. Upon the completion of all 15 standards, candidates will be able to claim the full and CPD point accredited Care Certificate. Each certificate can be reprinted at any time should the need arise (e.g. in case of loss, inspection etc.).
